Cheesy B-Movie Goodness: 'Krull' a Sci-Fi, Fantasy Epic is Finally Coming to Blu-ray

Aliens, lasers, swords, knights on horses, castles and a damsel in distress that needs a hero ... No, it's not the latest Roger Corman flick, it's Krull directed by Peter Yates in 1983. Cheesy B-Goodness doesn't get any better than this Sci-Fi, fantasy epic. It has a flying mountain and everything, what's not to love?

Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall) has inherited a kingdom under siege by the evil Beast, and not only has to rid the land of the monster, but he has to rescue his bride Lyssa (Lysette Anthony) from the Beast's clutches as well. In his magical land, horses can sometimes fly, medieval castles can harbor weapons that light up, and before he can defeat the Beast, the prince has to get his hands on the glaive (French for "double-edged sword"), a razor-sharp, magical weapon capable of killing the monster.

Did You Know?
The picture was one of the most expensively produced motion pictures of its time.

Twenty-three movie sets were constructed for the filming of this major motion-picture.

Composer James Horner's music re-uses re-arranged elements from his 1982 score for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982).

Many movie posters for the film featured a long preamble that read: "Beyond our time, beyond our universe . . . there is a planet besieged by alien invaders, where a young king must rescue his love from the clutches of the Beast. Or risk the death of his world. KRULL. A world light-years beyond your imagination".
